Dy CM for coordinated efforts for redress of people's problems during winter | KNO

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today directed for a coordinated and synergized effort in order to ensure that the people living in the winter zones of the state do not face any inconvenience vis-à-vis the electric power supply during the ensuing winter season. The Dy Chief Minister was speaking at a meeting convened to review the overall power scenario in the State and also the winter preparedness being done by the department in view of the ensuing winter season. Minister of State for Power Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi was also present. Principal Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Chief Engineers and other senior officers were present in the meeting. The Dy Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure that every possible measure is put in place in order to ensure that the consumers living in the winter zone of the State do not face any inconvenience. He said that the supply of electricity should be rationalized in such a manner that every area gets the requisite amount of power. Dr Singh while referring to the formulation of the schedule of electricity to be maintained during the winters said that it should be strictly adhered to and the tendency of unscheduled cuts should be done away with. He said that by ensuring strict adherence to the power schedule we would ensure the proper rationalization of the power, the demand of which registers an increase during the winters. The Dy Chief Minister also asked for maintaining a proper buffer of electric transformers so that the damaged ones can be replaced within the shortest possible time while the damaged ones are being repaired. He said that a proper mechanism should be followed for ensuring that the repair of the transformers is done at an earliest. Dr Singh also asked for ensuring that the transformer repairing workshop is provided with all the requisite men and material so that they can speed up the process of repairing the damaged transformers. He also directed for undertaking regular inspections so that the quantum of electric load can be gauged and the necessary steps taken for its augmentation. The Minister of State for Power, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, while speaking on the occasion called for a sustained effort from the officers and the field staff so that the winter related problems can be redressed. He said that the main thrust should be to ensure that the people at large should not suffer.
